Science Fair

Our students showcased their scientific skills by organising their very own science fair during science week. Working in groups, they conducted and explained various science experiments to students from younger and older classes. Additionally, 2nd and 3rd class had the opportunity to attend a science fair hosted by 5th and 6th class, exposing them to new and exciting experiments. They also learnt of the work of key scientific figures throughout history such as Isaac Newton & Albert Einstein.

Multiplication and Division

In these months, the 3rd class students delved into the world of multiplication and division, using different thinking strategies. Utilising concrete materials and chalk markers, they visualised mathematical sums to enhance their understanding. The hands-on approach aims to make mathematical concepts more tangible and accessible to the students.

Exploring Maths Outdoors

Taking the classroom outside, our 2nd and 3rd class embarked on an exploration of lines, angles, and 2D shapes identifying them within the school grounds.

Preparations for Festive Celebrations

December was a month of festive preparations as the school geared up for the school mass and Christmas concert. The children worked so hard to learn off all their lines. The hard work and dedication of all the students paid off, with their fantastic performance in the play "Matilda." They showcased their talents by performing the songs "Naughty" and "When I Grow Up. Although, before the play started they may have been a little bit nervous, they didn’t let it stop them! And made their families, teachers and school SO proud of them on the night!

The children also were very busy creating artwork for the school’s corridors, crafting reindeers and painting cups of hot chocolate. Children also were able to attend a school craft fair organised by 4th, 5th & 6th class. They did an amazing job and thank you to all those pupils and teachers again for making it so enjoyable.

Santa's Visit and Pyjama Party Celebration

To celebrate the end of Term 1, our students received a special visit from Santa Claus himself who gave the class presents for them to enjoy in school. Adding to the joy, the term concluded with a pyjama party, creating a cosy and relaxed atmosphere for the students to share laughter after all their hard work so far this year!

Procedural Writing

2nd and3rd class explored language and creativity through procedural writing. Engaging oral language games using LEGO, blocks and drawing materials allowed students to instruct each other. To further enhance their procedural writing skills, the class made hot chocolate. Students explored creative storytelling through books like "How to Babysit Your Grandma” and used this as inspiration to write their own creative pieces of procedural writing.

Overall, the months of November and December were packed from academic achievements to festive celebrations and creative explorations. The 2nd and 3rd class teamwork and a passion for learning. We are so looking forward to what the New Year will bring!
