This November we had great fun in our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) lesson. We learned the Humpty Dumpty Rhyme in September and our challenge was to work in teams and build a new wall for Humpty that he wouldn't fall from. In groups the children first discussed what materials they need to build - (what would be the strongest?) next they designed their walls through illustrations and finally they built their walls. To test if their wall was strong enough and tall enough to hold Humpty Dumpty they each were given a real egg to rest on the wall. Some teams lost their egg as their structure wasn't strong enough while others were able to keep their eggs safe perched on top of their wall.
In December we were very busy practicing for our Christmas performance "Whoops a Daisy Angel". We all learned our lines and brought in beautiful costumes for the play. We performed our play for our families during the day and we really enjoyed it even though we may have been a little nervous :)
During our play we used the sleigh to pretend we were Santa and Mrs Claus delivering presents and our reindeer had read the directions and knew where to direct the sleigh. It was so much fun!
In maths we used our numicon resource on Christmas trees to show the different ways we can make the number 8. We love using Numicon in maths as its fun to play with and we learn so much from it.
Some of our art lessons were hanging up in the corridor for all our visitors to see that were coming to the Christmas Fair held by 5th and 6th class.
We look forward to the rest during Christmas as we have worked very hard this term and look forward to returning in the New Year!
