In January we learned lots about winter. We went on a winter walk on the school grounds and we seen lots of bare trees, robins, frost and ice. We thought it was a good idea to leave our gloves on the radiator when we came inside so it would be nice and cosy when we put them on again.
In science we did an experiment to investigate the hottest part of the classroom. We came up with lots of different ideas so we put it to the test. We got three ice cubes and left them in three spots in the room to see which one would melt the fastest. We weren't surprised to see that the ice cube on top of the radiator melted the quickest.
We focused on clay making in art in January and the children made beautiful pots to paint and bring home.
In February we were thrilled to have 4th class come down to our class to help us make St Brigid's Day crosses. We ate pancakes for Pancake Tuesday and learned a poem off by heart about cooking pancakes!
In Gaeilge we learned a song called "Teidí beag aláinn" and during our drámaíocht the children took on the roles of the doctiúr and the teidí beag. Bhí na páístí ar fheabhas!
Ms Kehoe the principal read us a story in the library to celebrate the Book Fair arriving in our school and we loved the story called "The Wonky Donkey". It was sooooo funny!
