September & October Highlights
Welcome to the 5th Class news report. Here’s a snapshot of all the fun and learning we’ve been up to in September and October.
We kicked off the year by getting to know one another through fun games and activities. It was a great way to catch up with friends and settle into the new school year. We also had fantastic weather, so we spent lots of time outdoors, enjoying the sunshine while learning and playing.
In September, we started Rackard League training on the pitch. A huge thanks to Ms. Doran and the sixth-class students who helped us practice and improve our skills. It’s been so much fun learning together!
This month, we focused on recount writing. We wrote amazing stories about snowstorms and detailed creative recounts imagining we were astronauts in space. Everyone’s creativity and writing skills shone through in their work!
Space was a big theme for us over these months. We learned about astronauts, what life is like on the International Space Station (ISS), and the wonders of the universe. We created beautiful art pieces of astronauts in space and completed space-themed projects, which turned out amazing!
In math, we revised addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. We also worked on data projects by surveying other classes and presenting our findings. It was exciting to see our math skills come to life in real-world activities.
One of the highlights was making slow-cooker hot chocolate. We wrote the recipe and practiced talking through the steps in Irish
In October, we went on a trip to the FCJ to see their wonderful production. It was an inspiring experience and seen a lot of past pupils. We all enjoyed it thoroughly.
To celebrate Halloween, we had a Witches Walk, and everyone dressed up in their spookiest and most creative costumes. It was a fantastic way to wrap up October! Thank you to the Parents Association who organised this for us!
We’ve had a busy and exciting start to the year, and we can’t wait to see what’s next for 5th class.
