Daily Routine

Morning Routine

Pupils wait at the gate until the Principal or another teacher comes to the gate at 9:10am.. Pupils wash their hands at their designated sinks before going to their classrooms and taking a seat. They may do morning activities as guided by teachers. Two adults supervise the morning period. Pupils get ready to start their learning as soon as they enter school.

Lessons begin at 9.20 a.m.

We would like to remind all parents/ guardians that pupils are not covered by school insurance until 9:10am daily. Pupils should be supervised outside the gate if they arrive before 9:10am

Junior Infants may be escorted to their classroom by their parents initially and will then be encouraged to follow school procedures with the rest of the school population. We request that all parents/ guardians support pupils in arriving to school on time.

Hometime

School Day ends
2.00pm For Junior & Senior Infants
3.00 pm For 1st - 6th Class

  • Please note that for the first two weeks of the school year, Junior Infants go home at 12:00pm. All classes will be escorted to the entrance of the school by their class teachers.

No supervision is provided after this time, unless pupils are on school business (e.g. attending a match/ training etc.) If a pupil is involved in an after school activity, supervision will only be provided for the participating pupil and staff are not able to accommodate supervision of other family members during this time.

  • If a parent/ guardian wishes to collect a pupil at an earlier time, the office should be informed, and the information will be passed on to the class teacher. All early collections will be recorded in our data protected log out book in the front foyer.
  • Regular newsletters are emailed to the parent body, which give an overview of the events taking place in the school during. Parents/ guardians are encouraged to read newsletters and all forms of written communication from the school. This communication may take the form of newsletters, text messages, physical notes, emails etc. School bags should be regularly checked for notes. The school has rolled out the Aladdin Connect system for parents/ guardians and this has helped to improve communication between home and school.

Visitors to school

All visitors to the school - including parents - must report to the main door/school office in the first instance. Ann, our secretary, will pass on any messages or items as necessary. If you require your child to leave school early or if they have taken ill at school you will be requested to complete the 'Signing out Register' before leaving the school premises. Your co-operation with this important matter is much appreciated by all staff.

Absences from school

If your child is absent from school, you are required to give a reason for their absence on Aladdin. School attendance is monitored regularly and parents may be requested to provide medical evidence if their child is absent for a prolonged period or is absent from school for one or two days on a regular basis. It is always in the school's best interest to work with parents to ensure that children maximise their potential by having a good school attendance record.
